Hyundai Ionia 6, Ranked #1 proving its competitive edge

Hyundai's midsize electric sedan, the Ioniq 6, has proven its superior competitiveness in a comparison evaluation conducted by a leading German automotive magazine.

According to Hyundai on the 11th, the Ioniq 6 ranked first in a recent comparison evaluation of three midsize electric sedans conducted by the German automotive magazine Auto Motor und Sport, surpassing the competing models from Polestar and Nio.

Auto Motor und Sport is one of the top three automotive magazines in Germany, along with Auto Bild and Auto Zeitung, exerting significant influence not only in Germany but also across Europe.

The evaluation included Hyundai's Ioniq 6, as well as the Polestar Polestar 2 and Nio ET5. The evaluation criteria consisted of 7 categories: body, safety, convenience, powertrain, driving performance, environmental friendliness, and cost.

The Ioniq 6 ranked first in 5 categories including body, safety, convenience, powertrain, and environmental friendliness. With a total score of 582 points, it outperformed the competing models Polestar 2 (576 points) and ET5 (519 points).

Notably, the Ioniq 6 received the highest score of 104 points in the powertrain category.

Despite having the smallest capacity among the evaluated models, with a 77.4 kWh battery, the Ioniq 6 achieved a range of 433 km on a single charge. This was only 14 km less than the ET5 equipped with the largest capacity 100 kWh battery. It also surpassed the Polestar 2, which has an 82 kWh battery, by 49 km in range.

Additionally, it recorded the lowest electricity consumption per 100 km of driving.

The Ioniq 6 has been recognized for its excellence in Europe, winning numerous awards. It won the New Energy category at the German Car of the Year Awards in September last year.

In the same year, it was selected as the Car of the Year 2024 in Ireland in November and in Scotland in December, in both the overall and large electric vehicle (EV) categories.

Moreover, it was nominated in the Family Car category at the UK Car of the Year Awards in March this year.
